Study Abstract
|
Chlorobium sp. Strain N1 is the only known Green Sulfur Bacterium which is halo-tolerant, photoautotrophic and can oxidize Fe(II). Therefore, it is the only good model strain available for studies of Fe(II) oxidation by Green Sulfur Bacteria under marine conditions analogous to the Earth's ancient oceans. Chlorobium sp. Strain N1 was obtained from sediments of Norsminde Fjord, in the Aarhus Bay area of Denmark and cultured on artificial seawater medium with 10 mM FeCl2. Genomic DNA was extracted and sequenced with Illumina MiSeq Reagent Kit V2, PE250, yielding about 3 million read pairs.
