Description Apomixis in crops could revolutionize plant breeding because of its ability to fix hybrid vigor. This goal of this study is to generate sequence data that will enable the development and testing of hypotheses focused on three longer-term goals. 1) Exploring the region of the genome associated with apomictic reproduction with particular attention to apomeiosis, 2) comparing the genomic regions associated with transmission of apomixis from an evolutionary perspective, and 3) conducting broader comparative studies of genome structure across Panicoid grasses.
