Description Understanding the mechanisms that enable bacteria to make this switch is vital for harnessing the power of the plant microbiome to increase production of biofuels on marginal lands. The goal with this study is to investigate how populations of bacteria “switch” from free-living soil microbes to living within plant tissues.
