Description The goal of the study is to understand interdependencies between microbes that affect community assembly, structure, function, and evolution. These interactions are very difficult to disentangle from bulk community data provided by metagenomics, and difficult to reconstruct with cultured isolates. The targets of this study are associations where two or more cells are physically attached to each other and involved in an intimate, sustained, and possibly coevolved interaction.
