Description Genome sequencing of isolates of Thermotoga sp. RQ7 that arose from an ongoing adaptive laboratory evolution (ALE) experiment where RQ7 was cultivated with cellulosic filter paper as the main or sole carbon source. The study aims at selecting a Thermotoga strain that can effectively degrade cellulose for biohydrogen production and establishing a new method for strain engineering for Thermotoga species. Started in December 2011, the ALE experiment has been performed for more than 6 years and resulted in 313 generations of evolved cultures, named as NT1 through NT313.
