Description Because the interest for methane-oxidizing organisms (and methane-oxidizing communities) is huge, the goal of the study is to look for the missing links in methane oxidation and sequencing genomes and metatranscriptomes representing understudied and underestimated functional guilds that are parts of methane-oxidizing communities with a goal to detect methane-mitigating activities through detecting ‘community signatures’ and to provide a better resolution to understanding and ultimately modeling microbially mediated global and local cycles, including greenhouse gas cycles.
