Description Arsenophonus arthropodicus is a bacterial endosymbiont isolated from Pseudolynchia canariensis, which is a blood feeding fly that parasitizes pigeons and other birds. Arsenophonus arthropodicus is present in the hemolymph and multiple tissues within the fly and is transmitted maternally to offspring. Closely related species of Arsenophonus have been identified in a wide range of distantly related insect hosts with different lifestyles.
