Project Description
![]() |
An old world fruit bat Pteropus giganteus, held in captivity suffering from necrosis of its wing, failed to respond to antibiotic therapy forcing two amputations to alleviate the infection. Old world bats carry many disease particularly deadly viral diseases. This work investigates the pathogen responsible for infection, including identification of a novel bacterial species belonging to the genera Afipia.
