Project Description
The strain DSM 10701 of Pseudomonas stutzeri was originally isolated from an anaerobic enrichment of soil with succinate and nitrous oxide (B. A. Bryan, 1980). The strain JM300 was characterized by C.A. Carlson in 1983 from one of the smooth-colony variants, derived from the strain obtained from the C. C. Delwiche University collection. The strain JM300 is known for its natural transformation ability, and for the potential to acquire genes, making it relevant for studying the transfer of genes in the environment. Genomic analysis of this representative strain will contribute to the understanding of the acquisition mechanisms and the function of new metabolic routes, as well as their integration in the metabolism of the receptor. The genome sequence of JM300 will greatly increase our knowledge on the adaptation of the Pseudomonads to diverse ecological niches.
