Project Description
As of this submission, complete genomes from halophilic representatives of the Geobacteraceae family of Deltaproteobacteria are lacking. This submission provides the complete genome of Geoalkalibacter subterraneus Red1, an alkalitolerant, halophilic, iron-reducing bacterium isolated from Redwash Oilfield (Utah, USA). This and other genomes from haloalkaliphilic Geobacteraceae offer important insight into the diversity of metabolic and extracellular respiratory pathways in metal-reducing bacteria.
