Methanocellales are considered key methane producers in rice soil. Three species affiliated with Methanocellales have been isolated into pure culture. This project focuses on the genome sequencing of the most recent isolate, strain HZ254, and on the comparative genomics of all three isolates. The new knowledge generated by this project would shed new light on mitigating methane emissions
