The goal of this study is to provide an assessment of taxonomic and functional diversity of a site highly diverse in microbial phyla of interest (Cyanobacteria and Chloroflexi) and which is unique for supporting thermophilic microbial mats in a hot spring with high concentrations of dissolved organic carbon (including compounds that are geologically sourced from the hot spring water as well as biologically sourced from nearby plants and in situ by photoautotrophic members of the microbial mat). |
