Description
![]() |
This strain was first isolated in the 1940s by Lilleengen, and typed based on phage sensitivity. It became the principle laboratory strain and many important biochemical and genetic experiments were performed using this strain, including classical phage transduction studies. LT2 contains a plasmid, pSLT, that encodes additional virulence functions. Numerous prophages, some of which contain virulence genes, are inserted into the chromosome of LT2 as compared to related Salmonella |
