Description Clostridium tyrobutyricum is anaerobic, gram-positive, rod-shaped eubacteria without the capacity for dissimilatory sulfate reduction. Clostridium tyrobutyricum ATCC 25755 is the most promising acidogenic bacterium used for the production of butyric acid, due to advances including relatively high product purity and yield, as well as tolerance with high concentrations of this compound.
