Project Description
Here we report the draft genome of a second strain, PhosAc3, of the recently described novel species : Mesotoga prima type strain MesG1. Ag.4.2. (Nesbo et al. 2012). PhosAc3 previously proposed as a novel species (Ben Hania et al., 2012) appeared to belong to the same species M. prima (Ben Hania et al., in preparation). The genome sequence of PhosAc3 will be used for comparative genomics studies. This project aims to explore the genomes of Mesotoga for not only because it will be important for understanding bacterial adaptation to high and moderate temperatures at small evolutionary scales, but also because Mesotoga might play a crucial ecological role in ecosystems polluted by aromatic compounds.
