Project Description
Described is the draft genome of Mannheimia haemolytica serotype 6. To date sequence data has only been available for serotypes 1 and 2 of this species. Both seroytpes 1 and 6 have been shown to be associated with bovine respiratory disease in cattle with serotype 1 the primary agent . However, the incidence of serotype 6 associated disease is increasing. Comparisons made between the M. haemolytica genomes will aid in identifying elements unique to pathogenic strains and support the development of mitigation strategies against bovine respiratory disease.
