Project Description
Clostridium tyrobutyricum is capable of producing a high amount of butyric acid. However, the butyric acid biosynthesis of this organism remains still unclear. The complete genome of C. tyrobutyricum KCTC 5387 suggests that it produces butyric acid through butyrate:acetate CoA transferase rather than the phosphotransbutyrylase-butyrate kinase pathway as in Clostridium acetobutylicum.
