Project Description
The sequence of the P. fluorescens genome will provide insight into its metabolic versatility for its ability to degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and its interaction with the environment. P. fluorescens HK44 is a genetically engineered microorganism derived from P. fluorescens 18H - an isolate obtained from a manufactured gas plant soil heavily contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals and demonstrated to contain a chromosomally-encoded salicylate metabolic pathway
